International visitors: architectural archives delegation (SA)

A delegation from South Africa specialized in architectural archives is visiting the Netherlands from Monday 2 to Friday 6 July 2018.

The delegation consists of Ms Yolanda Meyer, manager of the Transnet Heritage Library; Ms Bongi Mphuti, senior librarian at Architecture and Built Environment Library of University of the Witwatersrand; Mr Johan Swart, lecturer and curator of the Architecture Archives of the University of Pretoria; and Mr Alexio Motsi, deputy director of preservation at the National Archives of South Africa

The visit is facilitated by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands and DutchCulture to meet a number of challenges the visiting institutions are facing regarding the conservation, managing, indexing and digitizing of their historical architecutral archives, as well as making these archives publically accessible.  

Our guests will visit the National Archives of the Netherlands, Het Nieuwe Instituut, the depots of the Cultural Heritage Agency in Rijswijk and Railway Museum, among other. 

On Wednesday 4 July, from 15:00 to 17:00 hrs at DutchCulture in Amsterdam, the visitors will discuss the abovementioned challenges, and discuss with each other and the audience the best ways to tackle these challenges. You are welcome to attend this event, the event is free and in English.
