Culture Fund: Theatre, Dance & Film Scholarships
The Culture Fund (formerly the Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds) is a private fund that supports projects in the fields of culture and nature conservation in the Netherlands. Additionally, it awards various international cultural scholarships to talented creators, including performing artists, dancers and filmmakers.
Talented young artists who have the Dutch nationality, who have graduated from a (preferably Dutch) institution of higher education with a Bachelor's (hbo) or Master's (wo) degree, and who wish to pursue further education abroad (i.e. master’s program).
Dancers do not need to have finished a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. They are allowed to apply for scholarship for a Bachelor’s program.
A master’s program or an equivalent qualification outside the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Up to 50% of the total budget with a maximum of €25,000.
- You have obtained a Bachelor’s degree (HBO) or a university Master’s degree in Theatre or Film, or you will obtain this degree during the current academic year.
Or: you have completed a recognised pre-professional Dance programme, or you will complete it this year. - Dutch nationality or have lived in the Netherlands for at least 5 years.
- You have not previously received a Cultuurfonds scholarship.
- You are applying for:
- a full-time study programme abroad leading to a Master’s degree; or
- a full-time (advanced) dance programme abroad at a minimum level of HBO Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- The programme for which you are applying must last at least one academic year starting from July. You may already have started the programme, but scholarships are not awarded retroactively.
- You will reside in the country where you are following your studies.
- You are not applying for funding to cover the costs of a (graduation) project.
